CONNETQUOT TEACHERS ASSOCIATION
SUPPORTS ‘EVERY CHILD’S DREAM’ HOLIDAY
CELEBRATION
Ronkonkoma, NY - The Connetquot Teachers
Association (CTA) proudly announced that the district’s
teachers played a vital role in the third annual ‘Every
Child’s Dream’ Holiday Celebration on
December 12th. Twenty-five current, or retired, Connetquot
teachers and friends helped distribute coats, blankets,
scarves and gloves, as well as serving dinner to almost
600 guests.
Event organizer Ken Mangan, of the
Suffolk County Department of Labor, was pleased with
the turnout of all the volunteers that made this event
such a success. CTA Vice-President Brad Lindell, along
with the Association’s Coordinator of Community
Advocacy Nancy Dunlop, assisted with the distribution.
The number of invited guests was so large that two
dinner sittings, at 5 PM and 7 PM, were arranged.
Invited guests were served on linen
covered tables, by waiters and waitresses wearing
white gloves, in the colorfully decorated St. Lawrence
the Martyr auditorium (founded in 1895) in Sayville,
NY. Suffolk’s homeless and needy guests were
served dinner and dessert, and then had the opportunity
to select from hundreds of coats, sweaters and blankets
that had been donated for their use. Youngsters in
attendance were provided with their own little surprises
which included gifts distributed by Santa’s
‘elves’.
Congratulaitons to Ken Mangan for
his wonderful efforts to help the homeless, and needy.
He was assured that Connetquot’s teachers will
be available to help out again next year. The Connetquot
Teacher’s Association is deeply involved in
community events such as financial support of local
club sports for boys and girls, collecting clothing
for the needy, and raising funds to fight cancer,
and provide college scholarships.
