Connetquot Teachers Collect Coats
and Blankets for Poor and Needy Adults and Children
The Connetquot Teachers Association
collected more than 100 coats, 50 sweaters and 25 blankets
for distribution to poor and needy adults and children.
The Association collected from current teachers,
as well as from retired teachers.
Nancy Dunlop, Coordinator of Community
Advocacy, stated, "The response was tremendous.
Even retired teachers who lived out of state and could
not donate coats sent monetary contributions. It was
a great spirit of giving."
The donations were distributed at the
'Every Child's Dream' Holiday Celebration on December
19th. The event was held in the colorfully decorated
St. Lawrence the Martyr auditorium. Suffolk's homeless
and needy guests were served dinner and dessert and
then had the opportunity to select from the coats, sweaters
and blankets.
