Association Questions Why BOE
Says No to 403b Contribution for Retirees
The Connetquot Teachers Association
questions the reasoning behind the Board of Education's
decision not to allow retiring teachers the option
of investing their retirement incentives into their
tax sheltered annuities. In addition to this being
an honorable action for the District to do for its
retiring members, it could have saved the taxpayers
of the District over $550,000 since
2003. This conservative estimate is based on an analysis
conducted by Evan Engler, Coordinator of Finances
for the New York State United Teachers.
The Association questions the BOE
for voting not to save the Connetquot community a
tremendous amount of money. The Association also questions
why the BOE wouldn't show its appreciation to the
teachers who have served the District for more than
30 years and have educated and guided the students
of this community.
The Connetquot Teachers Association
is committed to sharing with the Connetquot community
the truth about how our taxpayers' monies are wasted
and how the District's decisions impact the morale
of the teaching staff.
